"West Coasting" is CJ Boyd's meditation on what it means to be "Alternative." This attempt at a grunge era "covers album", re-worked and scrambled into two 20-minute atmospheric movements pays tribute to the influential music of his adolescence, while still approaching the birthplace of "the alternative" in an alternative way.

I recorded most of this music myself, while on tour, at a number of locations, relying on the generosity and hospitality of numerous wonderful folks in the latter half of 2010. Some of those places were:

I originally intended to do all of the mixing and mastering on it too, but I eventually yielded to my better judgment and got some much appreciated help from Michael O'Shea at Solotechne Studios in Fletcher, NC.
